If any one ever told me that the name Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will trend negatively in respect of Economic analysis and authority on economic management in these tough times that we needed him most, I would have bet my last penny on him.
I have never observed Dr. Bawumia teach practical economics but given the cacophonous noises Dr. Bawumia made about the economy during the period leading to the 2016 elections with the support of the NPP party, and candidate Akufo-Addo in particular, it was clear to most Ghanaians that Dr. Bawumia could just be that economic Messiah that Ghana and Africa needed desperately.
Dr. Bawumia rose to political fame quickly due to his comical approach to delivering his presentations about the state of the Ghanaian economy.
For example, he said under Mr. John Mahama, a ball of Kenkey had moved from 50p to One cedi in eight years which to him (Bawumia) was a sign of incompetence on the part of Mahama. At the time I believed that when given the nod to serve as Vice-President, Dr. Bawumia had the magic wand to either reverse the one Cedi Kenkey back to 50p, or at least maintain the price at one Cedi for a ten year period at least. Hmmm… What is the verdict currently? Within 6 years, Bawumia’s revered food Kenkey has moved from one Cedi to Two Cedis to Three Cedis and to Four Cedis in some cases. The question I ask is, where is Dr. Bawumia currently?
Has Bawumia’s economic magical powers dissipated?
Boboboe!!!!! , Do Ghanaians remember Dr. Bawumia’s rhyme on the sufferings of the Ghanaian people?
” Ghanaians are suffering,”
” Teachers are suffering”
” Nurses are suffering”
” Kayayei are suffering”
” Masons are suffering”
” Drivers are suffering”
” Doctors are suffering” etc.
Eiiiii, where is Dr. Bawumia now? If he cannot be found, can someone reach out to his wife, beautiful Ghanaian model, Samira Bawumia to remind her better half that the above mentioned categories of Ghanaians are indeed still suffering now than ever before.
In fact, let it get to Samira Bawumia that as they enjoy a common pillow at night, she should whisper to her ‘chochomucho ‘ Bawumia that under John Mahama the above categories of Ghanaians were only suffering but under his (Bawumia) watch currently, not only are they suffering but are dieing together with the underlisted categories.
‘ Wives are dieing’
‘ Husbands are dieing’
‘ Animals are dieing’
‘ The Economy is dieing’
Dr. Bawumia, you have been globally credited for yoir populist postulation that ” when the economic fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you”. You suddenly shot to the limelight when you made these postulations in reference to John Mahama. At the time, one US dollar exchanged for 3 Ghana Cedi and Forty pesewas.
What is the verdict today?
Madam Samira Bawumia, please remind your chochomucho, Dr. Bawumia, Ghana’s economic Messiah that one US dollar is now selling for 8 Ghana Cedis plus.
Madam Samira Bawumia, could you please ask your chochomucho, Dr. Bawumia whether I can also suggest to him that, if you mismanage the economy for your currency (Ghana Cedis) to become the weakest currency in the sub-region, you are not only incompetent but not fit for purpose?. In the Ga language, you will be described as ‘oshawaa’ and in Twi, ‘wabong paaa’.
Dr. Bawumia rhymed nicely with the list of NPP’s economic management team. And went further to ask, where is the NDC economic management team?
Restrospectively, here are Dr. Bawumia’s NPP economic management team list.
Nana Yaw Osafo -Marfo, Dr. Mark Asibey Yeboah, Prof. Gyan Baffour, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, Ken Ofori Atta, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Kwaku Kwarteng, etc.
So is Dr. Bawumia the head of this economic team that he himself formulated that is deliberately running this nation aground?
Hmmmm… ‘Asem beba dabi’
By the way, is Dr. Bawumia still nurturing the thought of contesting on the NPP’s ticket to become President of Ghana? Hmmm…. I miss veteran Journalist, Mr Kweku Baako. He has always said ” talk is cheap”.
Dr. Bawumia, the last time you went into hiding or hibernation, it took Citi Fm and Joy Fm presenters to call you out to resurface. I hope Ghanaians will hear from you again soon
Note however that I SHALL continue checking up on you till elections 2024.
