A leading attack dog of the Akufo-Addo government, Paul Adom Otchere, has been told to withdraw and apologize for insults that he heaped on Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State on Accra-based Metro TV.
Two groups from the Volta Region: the Brotherhood of Anlo and the Youth of the Asogli Traditional area demanded an apology in a statement.
Adom Otchere, the sellout journalist who has joined in with the Akufo-Addo government attacked the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State on his ‘Good Evening Ghana’ show over Togbe Afede’s decision to return an immoral ex-gratia that the government had paid him.
The totally unprovoked attack saw the ranting Adom-Otchere accuse Togbe Afede of returning the ex-gratia as a gesture of political populism
He also accused Togbe of not attending meetings while serving on the Council of State while lying that Togbe had even taken loans from the government
According to the Brotherhood of Anlo, attack dog’s tirades were borne out of tribal bigotry against an Anlo Chief and by extension all of the Ewe people.
“At this time that our nation is saddled with issues of unemployment and revenue challenges, Paul should rather be praising Togbe for being patriotic by returning his ex-gratia to government and by extension the suffering people of Ghana due to the economic meltdown,” the group fired.
Meanwhile, in a press statement signed by Conveners, Simon Ohene, Sefadzi Agama (Sohefia) and Daniel Yao Agbezudor, the youth warned that they have had enough of people attacking the overlord of the Asogli State.
“The Youth of Asogli wish to serve notice that we would no longer tolerate attempts by any individual or group of persons to denigrate any of our Chiefs, especially Togbe Afede. As this will be met with the strongest form of anger,” the statement.
The youth group described Adom-Otchere as a “traitor and an ungrateful being”.
