‘Wonkye Ndi’: As Akufo-Addo Splash Ghc 265,000 Of COVID-19 Money On NPP Binduri Constituency

Following revelations that the Akufo-Addo Jubilee House shared the monies, it claims to have spent on fighting COVID-19 among national, regional, constituency and district offices of the ruling party as spoils of power, a list detailing how the Binduri constituency of the NPP shared its own has emerged.

The list which is captured in an excel presentation shows that some Ghc265,000 of the pandemic cash was thrown at the Binduri constituency office of the party and distributed equitably among all executives in the loot and share.

According to the breakdown, the NPP’s 2020 parliamentary candidate for Binduri, Abdulai Abanga, was given Ghc50, 000 while the District Chief Executive for the area Mr. Ayinga Abagre Yakubu was allocated Ghc20, 000. Then a supposed ‘special group” was allocated Ghc40, 000.

Without corresponding names, the list shows that the NPP’s Deputy Organizer for Binduri was given Ghc5,000; Deputy Nasara Coordinator, Ghc5,000, Assistant Secretary Ghc10,000, Chairman Ghc30,000, Financial Secretary, Ghc5,000 and Youth Organizer, Ghc10,000.

Then the party Secretary got Ghc10, 000, Women’s Organizer, Ghc10, 000, and Deputy Women’s Organizer, Ghc5,000.

The Akufo-Addo government has refused to properly account for COVID-19 funds, stating various figures from Ghc8.1billion to Ghc20billion as the amount it has spent on COVID-19.

The Minority in Parliament has expressed disbelief in the claims and invited the government to account but the government has used every dirty trick in the book to account, including 1st Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Wusu, dismissing a request for a probe into the spending.

While at it, the government has also been claiming that COVID-19 is the reason the country’s economy is collapsing.

But recently, the NPP’s 2020 parliamentary candidate for Sagnerigu, Felicia Tettey, flew off the handle and in response to accusations that she spent all of the COVID-19 allocated to Sagberigu, revealed that she got Ghc100,000 which she gave back to the party.

This has led to the Minority announcing it will reactivate demand for a parliamentary probe.
