Many people are suspecting that the supposed armed robbery attack that ended in the assassination of Accra-based lawyer, Richard Badombie, on the Bole-Bamboi highway in the Savannah Region is actually state-sponsored.
People close to the slain lawyer believe that this hit is nothing but another long knife from the Akufo-Addo Jubilee House which has been in the news for using national security operatives to stage armed robbery hit on perceived dissidents.
This is because Lawyer Badombie was apparently an outspoken patriot who was concerned about the failed state that Ghana is becoming and has been openly speaking about it.
Indeed, his last post on Facebook before he was suddenly murdered was, “This country needs a Messiah. It is falling apart every minute.”
And it is not just the post that has stirred up massive suspicion, but the manner of the killing – Lawyer Badombie, who was said to be traveling in his car to Jirapa together with some family members was waylaid and shot by supposed armed robbers who took nothing, nor shot anyone else in the car, reinforcing the suspicion that it was a hit job.
The killing was quite stylistic of how investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein Suale, was murdered in traffic after he had worked on a secret investigation that revealed disgraced former president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, was soliciting a US$8million bribe to share among himself, Vice President Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo.
One of the people openly smelling foul play over the suspected assassination of Lawyer Badombie is his former classmate at the Law School, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor.
“This country took your life, Badombie; and I will never forget that! May you never rest in peace, until this country that you loved so much is fixed.
“May your death be the spark that lights the change this Republic must seek to be worthy of your aspirations!” Mr. Barker-Vormawor wrote.
