Mawarko Not Ruling Out Competitor Foul Play In Food Poisoning

The Public Relations Officer of the popular restaurant chain, Mawarko, says the company is not ruling out foul play by its competitors in the case of food poisoning suffered by some of its customers at some of its branches in Accra.

Mr. Mohammed Amin Lamptey who is also a lecturer told Accra-based Joy FM Management is not leaving any possibility to chance as they investigate the development.

“When you talk about competition in marketing undoubtedly, your competitors would have a way of trying to neutralise you because you have located your business at a place where probably you have taken away some of their customers,” he said.

“There are so many things that your competitors would do knowingly and unknowingly. Some can even use your own staff and they can use your own people in your own company, it’s normal. I am a lecturer in Journalism, PR, Marketing and Communication…,” he said.

Mawarko has been braving a public relations scare after some of its customers reported that they had taken ill after eating at some branches of the popular eatery.

The issue went viral on social media after one Edward Elohim had tweeted that he had taken ill after eating at the restaurant. Mr. Elohim’s complaint was soon adlibbed by others.

Subsequently, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) closed down the restaurant’s East Legon and Abelenkpe and La outlets.

Mawarko’s public relations in the face of the problem has however been excellent, with some members of Management t visiting hospitals and paying the medical bills of victims.
