Trade Minister, Alan Kyeremanten, has said that the Akufo-Addo government is actively working out a vision to make Ghana “the new China of Africa.”
“I can say at the risk of sounding a bit boastful that as one of the main architects of the African Continental Free Trade Area…and that is how come we ensured we will campaign to have the headquarters of the African Continental Free Trade Area in Ghana. That was the first pillar of our Ghana-Africa strategy,” Kyeremanteng said during a public lecture at the Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Kyeremanten who is expected to contend for the 2024 presidential ticket of the ruling NPP added, “All these industrial initiatives I’m talking about, they are geared towards making Ghana, if you like, the new China of Africa; making Ghana the new manufacturing hub.”
He said the vision was not an event and that it has taken time but that the fruits of the vision are about to show. “It takes time and I think that we are at a point where the fruits of our labor will start showing.”
