Customs Commissioner Has Been Unpaid His Salary For Six Months - WhatsUp News

Customs Commissioner Has Been Unpaid His Salary For Six Months

The man heading the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Col. K. Damoah, is hanging in limbo because the Commissioner-General of the GRA has refused to confirm him.

This is according to Mr. Samson Asaki Awingobit, the President of the Ghana Importers and Exporters Association.

“Col K Damoah (Rtd) for the past six months GRA Customs Division has no head, he is sitting there as Ceremonial because Rev. Ammishaddai doesn’t want to confirm him,” Mr. Awingobit revealed on Accra based Okay FM.

As a result of the mafia tactics from the Commissioner-General, Col. Damoa has not been on salary for the past six months, he revealed.

According to him, although Col K Damoah (Rtd) was duly appointed to the position, he has not received his confirmation letter.

“The Deputy Commissioner General in Charge of Customs for the past 6 months has not been paid, he has not received his appointment letter. He has been placed there and he has been able to raise revenue so why are they not appointing him? If you don’t want him to put him out and bring someone. These are men in uniform they have no head, how will they work. I am told that they’ve brought a lot of task force so the men in uniform are even afraid.”

The Importers and Exporters Association President further reveals that while Col. Damoah is made to hang like a scarecrow, some of his duties have been taken over by the Commissioner-General.

“It has never happened in my entire life that the Commissioner-General has taken auctioning of goods at the Customs warehouse. But now it’s the Commissioner General who is handling auctioning by himself,” he said.
