An investigative journalist, Efo Korsi Senyo has petitioned a number of institutions, including the Police administration, to activate punitive measures against one of President Akufo-Addo’s nominees as Justices for the Appeals Court.
In a statement to the press, the journalist explains his petitions are based on confirmation that Mr. Opoku Agyemang, while serving as Acting Director of the Ghana School of Law, used his position to criminally give admission to ten people who lacked qualification, into the Law School.
“I have also delivered a petition to the Inspector General of Police to arrest Mr. Maxwell Opoku-Agyemang and his accomplices for fraud and forgery of official documents for admission. I await the actions of the Inspector General of Police who has made it public that he intends to clean up the Police administration in Ghana and ensure equality of treatment of all before the law,” the petitioner wrote.
He adds that he has also petitioned the Chief Justice who heads the General Legal Council, to strike Mr. Opoku-Agyemang’s name off the roll of lawyers, as well as the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
“I have also petitioned the General Council of the Ghana Bar Association to expel Maxwell Opoku-Agyemang and his accomplices from their noble Association as members for bringing the name of the legal profession into disrepute,” reads the petition.
Efo Korsi Senyo’s petition against Opoku-Agyemang adds to earlier petitions by Former Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic (NDC) Yaw Brogya Genfi and musician, social activist, Kwame A-Plus.
The latter two had filed the petition immediately Attorney General, Godfred Yaboah-Dame named Mr. Opoku-Agyemang as one of 11 nominees for the Appeals Court.
While Acting as Director of the Law School, the embattled Opoku-Agyemang is said to have dubiously admitted some ten unqualified students, suspected to be children of his cronies, into the Law School – the same Law School which is notorious for deliberately failing qualified students who sit its entrance exams.
