The Electoral Commission has invited political parties in the country to an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on the 16th of March, 2022.
In a 9th March 2022 letter signed by Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, the Commission said the meeting will come off at 10 am in an office at the EC dedicated to the IPAC.
“Each political party is to be represented by two persons only,” the letter said.
It listed a six-point agenda for the meeting, including, “update on the C.I on Registration of voters, continuous registration, inspection of the offices of political parties, audited reports of political parties in the newspaper and AOB.”
IPAC is a committee that was formed by the EC in collaboration with the political parties to forge harmony by serving as a platform on which the parties can share ideas on the country’s electoral governance.
However, since Jean Mensah and her two deputies took over the EC, IPAC has been relegated to the background with Jean Mensah virtually rendering the body irrelevant by saying in the lead-up to the 2020 elections that the EC does not take advice from IPAC.
It is not clear if all the political parties will attend.
