Agblor Lodge Petitions Keta Municipal Assembly Over Bully Tactics Of MCE

The CEO of Agblor Lodge Beach Resort located in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region has petitioned the Municipal Assembly there, following the alleged invasion of the resort’s properties by the Municipal Chief Executive, Emmanuel Gemegah.

In a petition, G.K. Ahdzi accuses the MCE of demanding a declaration that the MCE and two others acted by, “abusing his office”.

Mr. Gemegah, through one Isaac Fiagbe, a Physical Planning Officer and Paul Sewor, Head of Works at the Assembly, have been accused of abusing their offices by claiming two pieces of beach lands legally acquired by the resort and duly approved by the Assembly as government buffer zones.

“on January 14, 2022, the Physical Planning Officer (Isaac Fiagbe) and Head of Works (Paul Sewor) all of the Keta Municipal Assembly forcefully entered the premises of Agblor Lodge Beach Resort and accompanied with fearful men numbering about six and threatened to demolish structures and same is known to their boss the Municipal Chief Executive. That the act of these officers is in contravention with Section 110 (10) (2) and Section 106 (3) (4) (5) (6) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and amounts to abuse and misuse of public office,” the petition read.

The petition is addressed to The Chairman of Public Relations and Complaints Committee of the Keta Municipal Assembly.

According to him, he applied for a development permit from the Keta Municipal Assembly and the approval was given on May 15, 2014, by the Keta Municipal Assembly.

Mr Ahadzi points out that all his drawings for the projects were done at fees at the Physical Planning Department of the Keta Municipal Assembly and that the Keta Municipal Assembly has even been accommodating some of its visitors at Agblor Lodge Beach Resort.

The land in question has not been in any dispute as the same has been certified by the Lands Commission of Ghana pursuant to Article 258 (1) of the Ghana 1992 constitution.
