New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South constituency in the Eastern Region, Michael Okyere Baafi, has accused Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, of holding the party to ransom.
In an interview on Kumasi-based Hello FM, Mr. Baafi said Adwoa Sarfo was sabotaging the party with deliberate absenteeism and malingering because she wants to be made the deputy Majority Leader in place of Effutu MP, Alex Afenyo Markins.
“We have the Majority Caucus in which 137 are NPP… but for us, the NPP MPs, every day 136 of us go to Parliament, but as for the last one, she has decided that she will not come. When the leaders try to explain it away, they evade the real issue. Today I am saying it plainly, not half plain, today is Monday, our lady, Adwoa Sarfo, we don’t see her in Parliament, we don’t. only she knows her whereabouts,” he said.
“Clearly, her intentions, posture and behavior shows she wants to sabotage NPP. And this thing is something that I am speaking on authority.”
According to the MP sometimes they beg Adwoa Sarfo before she would go to Parliament to vote in favor of the NPP.
Mr. Baafi all but confirmed earlier revelation by Assin Central MP, Ken Agyapong that Adwoa Sarfo is deliberately sabotaging the Majority and the Akufo-Addo government because she wants to be made the deputy Majority Leader. According to Ken Agyapong, Adwoa Sarfo is using her seat as a bargaining chip.
“She is saying that if you don’t make me deputy Majority Leader I won’t come. As a political party, NPP, we have got to that point where we have to call a spade a spade. Because you cannot hold the whole party to ransom,” Mr. Baafi said.
