The Akufo Addo administration has finally sacked the controversial Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), Yaw Kwakwa, Whatsup News can confirm.
In a letter from the Transport Ministry dated, February 4, 2020, the Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah confirmed that Yaw Kwakwa’s sacking was ordered by President Akufo Addo.
“His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana per letter No. OPS127/22/104 dated 1st January 2022, has directed that the appointment of Mr. Yaw Kwakwa as the Managing Director of th Ghana Airport Company Limited be terminated,” wrote the Transport Minister.
The letter was written to the Board Chairman of the GACL to effect the order.
It is unclear why Yaw Kwakwa was sacked, but he has been at war with workers of the GACL for a long time. The staff had endlessly called for his removal, but the Akufo Addo administration had refused.
Critics, therefore, think the recent dismissal may not be unconnected with the faux pas over the illegal construction of a private jet terminal at the airport by McDan Aviation, a company owned by, Daniel McKorley (McDan), a key financier of the Akufo Addo campaign.
It is believed that Yaw Kwakwa had only been thrown under the bus to take a fall for the regime which is deeply connected to the operations of McDan.
Indeed, there are speculations that the President’s notorious cousin, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko may be intrinsically involved in the McDan operations, having shuttled in McDan’s unlicenced and uninsured Gulfstream private jet out of the country on an unknown number of times.
