Right To Information Commission Calls Public Institutions To Submit Reports

The Right to Information (RTI) Commission has notified all public institutions that they are to submit their annual report on their activities for the past year.

A release from the Commission, signed by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Yaw Sarpong Boateng, said the reports must be submitted by 31st of March, 2022.

“The Right to Information Commission, under Section 77 of the Right To Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) hereby requests all public institutions to submit a written report on the activities of public institutions under Act 989 to the Commission on or before the 31st of March, 2022 or suffer penalties thereof.”

The release said the report has to cover the number of applications for information during the reporting period, January 2021 to December 2021; the number of applications approved and the number rejected together with reasons for rejection and the number of reviews requested and the number granted and the number dismissed together with reasons.

Also, the number of applications to the court for judicial review and the results of the review.

“Public Institutions are to note that by section 77 of Act 989, these reports are to be submitted to the Commission sixty (60) days after 31st December each year. All public institutions are entreated to comply or suffer the penalties thereof,” the statement said.
