25 Year Old Drug Peddler Granted Ghc30,000 Bail By Cape-Coast Court

A 25-year-old man, Inusa Osmanu, has been granted bail to the sum of Ghc30,000 by the Circuit Court in Cape Coast for allegedly peddling drugs.

The court presided over by Mrs. Dorinda Smith Arthur also ordered four sureties to be justified as part of the bail condition for Osmanu who is said to be a trader.

The accused denied possessing illicit drugs or control of narcotic drugs on his first appearance.

The complainants in the case were Constable Simon Oppong and Constable Benjamin Hayford stationed at the Central Regional Police Headquarters while the accused is a resident of Cape Coast.

Inspector Yakubu Iddrisu, who is a prosecutor in the case said the police conducted a swoop to flush out drug peddlers at about 2100 hours on September 20, 2021. As part of the swoop, the police searched a drinking bar being operated by the accused.

He said the police found seven bottles of Koffex cough mixture, four tablets suspected to be tramadol, six sparkling blue, five boxes of condoms, five mobile phones, 13 lighters and three pen drives.

They also found a sum of GHC4, 496.60 suspected to be from the sales of narcotics and Identity cards bearing different names.

The police, he said, are waiting for the outcome of exhibits sent to the Police forensic laboratory for examination.
