CLOGSAG calls Off Strike

The leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its strike action which commenced on Monday, January 20, 2022.

In a press release dated January 20, CLOGSAG said that the government has reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to meet their demand for better conditions of service and therefore there was no need to continue with the strike action over poor conditions of service.

“The National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG has, therefore, decided to call off the Strike. All members should organize themselves and resume work on Monday 24th January 2022,” part of the statement read.

It was signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo.

“We are grateful to all our members for their support and the print and electronic media for the coverage of our activities,” they added.

Consequently, all members are directed to return to work on Monday.

CLOGSAG had earlier contended that a year after their proposed salary structure was sent to the Finance Ministry to address their concerns, the Ministry was yet to communicate anything to them despite persistent reminders.

The Association said its members felt sidelined, which left them with no option but to declare an industrial action.

CLOGSAG said it realized that all other Services had an enhanced salary structure apart from the Civil Service.

Originally, the strike was to be indefinite. Its impact had started biting immediately on the day the strike commenced with many people who had gone to the various government agencies for services getting stranded.
