The Leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has reminded its members of their impending strike on the 20th of January, 2022.
A 17th January 2022 notice signed by its Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, said the strike action which was announced in December 2021, is to be observed as planned from Thursday.
After it has begun, the strike will continue indefinitely until the government heeds to their request.
“This is to confirm National Executive Council (NEC) decision that from 20th January 2022, the Civil and Local Government Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) would embark on a nationwide strike to press home their demand for better conditions of service,” CLOGSAG stated.
“Notice of intent to proceed on strike had been served on all relevant stakeholders since 22nd December 2021,” the letter to all regional coordinating directors read.
“By this letter, all CLOGSAG members in the Ministries Departments and Agencies as well as the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies are informed to stay at home from Thursday 20th January 2022 until further notice.”
CLOGSAG is complaining about their poor conditions of service.
According to the group, a year after its proposed salary structure was sent to the Finance Ministry to deal with it, the Ministry is yet to respond. And this is in spite of several reminders.
It says that all other services had an enhanced salary structure apart from the civil service.
