Bimbila Residents Threaten War With Military After Soldier Guns Down Civilian

There was tension in the air at the Bimbila Hospital on Wednesday when angry town youth massed up at the health facility in a threatening raucous over the alleged shooting of a man by a soldier.

The army of angry youth had reportedly threatened to march out against the soldiers after they reportedly gunned down a civilian named Fuseini Osman.

Mr. Osman was said to be riding a motorbike when he was gunned down by the soldier on Tuesday, November 23.

The deceased was said to be a security guard while the soldier has not yet been identified.

The reason for the soldier’s action is not known. However, after initially sending the body of the deceased to the Bimbilla Hospital, security operatives in charge have reportedly transferred him to Tamale.

According to reports, heavy deployment of soldiers to Bimbilla for the past few years is causing tension, with some natives questioning the rationale behind the heavy security presence in the town.
