Three teacher Unions have written to the National Teaching Council (NTC) to protest a continued deduction of a fee of Ghc100 from the monthly salaries of teachers for licenses issued by the NTC.
In a letter dated 23rd November 2021 and addressed to the Executive Secretary of the NTC, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH) demanded reimbursement of teachers of the monies deducted.
The three unions also warned that if the deductions do not stop there will be chaos on the education front.
“We find the continued deduction arbitrary, distasteful and an unfair labor practice, and therefore call for its immediate cessation and reimbursement of all teachers who have suffered it,” the letter said.
It added, “We call on you to act with dispatch to ensure that the said deduction does not appear on the November 2021 payslip to avert any instability on the education front.”
The letter was signed by Thomas Musah, General Secretary of GNAT, Eric Agbe-Carbonu, President of NAGRAT and King Ali Awudu, President of CCT-GH.
