#FixTheCountry Demo To Hit Govt Over 2022 Budget

E – Pressure group, #FixTheCountry has served notice it is embarking on a demonstration on Friday 26th November 2021.

The demonstration is against the 2022 Budget presented last week by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, according to a release from the pressure group.

The statement dated 26th of November, 2021 said the Police has already been notified.

“This afternoon, we served the Ghana Police Service notice of our intention to embark on a #FixTheCountry Demonstration on Friday, 26th November 2021. The protest is to register our displeasure at the ridiculous proposals of the 2022 budget and demand Parliament not to approve the budget in its current form,” the statement partly read.

It said the protest will begin from the Tema Station near the national hockey stadium and end at Parliament House.

“We declare our intolerance and refusal to normalize the continuing purposeful deceit; and the absence of truth and genuine accountability in how this country is being governed,” the statement said.

It called on all Ghanaians to join in the protest.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police has asked conveners of the group on Monday for further deliberations.

Since the presentation of the budget, there has been controversy, especially in regards to the government’s move to tax mobile money operations.
