The Ministry of Finance has given financial clearance for the Ministry of Education to recruit 16,850 new teachers.
The clearance is contained in a 19th November 2021 letter from the Finance Ministry to the Education Minister.
“Financial clearance is hereby granted the Hon. Minister of Education to enable the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service to recruit sixteen thousand, eight hundred and fifty (16,850) newly trained teachers for the service,” read the statement.
“Approval is also granted for their emoluments to be charged against the compensation of employees vote for Ministry of Education in the 2021 budget.”
The letter which is signed by Abena Osei Asare, urged the DG of the Education Service to ensure that the newly trained teachers have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanized payroll early enough to enable the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to effect payment of their salaries.
“The effective date of this appointment should not be earlier than 1st December 2021,” the letter said.
