Veterinary Officers Fumigate Ejisu Pig Farms Over Swine Flu

A fumigation campaign to rid the Ejisu cluster of pig farms of Africa Swine Flu started on Friday with Veterinary Officers spraying the Cluster of Pig Farms where the outbreak has killed over 3000 pigs.

According to reports, more than fifty (50) farmers have lost their source of livelihood and capital as a result of the outbreak.

The fumigation campaign comes after farmers had earlier been told to fund the fumigation themselves.

According to reports, the veterinary service there has since received support from the national headquarters through the Ashanti Regional office.

The affected farmers are reportedly still collating the necessary data for proper assessment by the health officials and the Ejisu Municipal Assembly.
