Akufo-Addo Extends Adwoa Safo’s Leave Of Absence

The Akufo-Addo Jubilee House says that a leave of absence that Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has been on has been extended.

A statement by the Presidency said the Dome Kwabena MP is on leave for personal reasons.

In her absence, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has been asked to act as caretaker Minister.

“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has extended the leave of absence from office for the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. SARAH Adwoa Safo, MP for Dome Kwabenya, which was to have ended on 31st August 2021. The Minister sought leave for personal reasons,” the statement from the Presidency read.

“In her absence, and until further notice, President Akufo-Addo has directed the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, to act as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.”

The statement was signed by Jubilee House Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin.

Meanwhile, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Elikem Kotoko, has said that the reason Adwoa Sarfo has abandoned her Ministry is that President Akufo-Addo forced her to reinstate the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding programme, Mrs. Gertrude Quarshigah who she fired.

Whatsup News has not independently verified this claim.

“The question that begs to be answered is, where is our gender minister? I think we are having too many square pegs in round holes which they don’t want to be told exactly who they are. Since the incident happened, I haven’t heard anything from Madam Adwoa Safo, I am told she has not even been reporting to work because she is angry the President directed her to recall Madam Beatrice Quashigah whom she fired,” Mr. Kotoko said.
