Veteran local actor, Kohwe, has passed on at age 75.
Kohwe whose real name is Kofi Laing is reported to have died Thursday at his residence in Accra. He had been receiving treatment for a stroke.
The news of his passing has since been confirmed by his daughter, Comfort Laing.
An iconic figure of the local vernacular scene, Kohwe had been one of the icons of TV drama and theatre, which ushered in Ghana’s film industry.
He so loved acting that he had quit his job at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to concentrate on his passion.
Recently, he called on Ghanaians to help him and other local actors as they did not make money from their craft since they had only acted out of passion.
After he suffered a stroke, his condition came to attention when a concerned fan visited him at his modest home.
