Homosexual Anglican Priest Joins Protest Against Ghana’s Anti-Gay Bill

An openly gay priest of the Church of England on Saturday joined protestors in front of the Ghana High Commission in London to demand that the country’s Parliament abort ongoing legislative processes to pass a bill that prohibits gay rights in Ghana.

Rev. Father Jide Macauley defied a cold downpour and joined fellow homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, queer and intersex practitioners to chant against “The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Value Bill 2021,” calling it, “evil.”

Rev. Macauley who says he is a Nigerian-born British and founder of House of Rainbow, a pro-gay activism organization, would later address the gathering of about 150 gay people.

“Jeremiah Chapter 1 verse 4 says that God knew you in your mother’s womb before you were consecrated a prophet over the nations. Come on now, God knew you were gay, bisexual, transgender before you were even conceived. So how does this Bill justify destroying God’s anointed?” he asked.

He added, “What is happening in Ghana today happened in Nigeria. In January 2006 the Nigerian government under Goodluck Jonathan introduced the anti-gay Bill.”

Rev. Mcauley explained it was in the same year that he started House of Rainbow to champion pro-gay activism in Nigeria and Ghana. “We were defiant against the Bill. So when my friends in Ghana were going through these issues I knew exactly what they were facing.”

The Anglican priest also held aloft a placard with the words, “Love is not un-African, Your Hate is!” and led chants “Gay right is a human right,” against the Bill from the podium which he had both used as a platform for sex activism and for preaching his pro-gay bible sermon.

Ghana’s legislature is in the process of passing the controversial Bill, which will criminalize same-sex marriages.

Already, the United Nations has expressed displeasure against the move, but the country’s MPs, led by a very conservative Catholic Speaker is defiant and poised.

But according to Rev. Jide Macauley, those who fight gay rights thinking they are doing God a favour are mistaken. According to him, this is because the Bible says that gay people were so created by God.
