One of the dispatch riders in the convoy of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has died in an accident, Whatsup News has gathered.
He was part of an advance security team of the Speaker who is believed to be scheduled for a trip to Wa in the Upper West Region.
In a statement released today, August 6, 2021, the Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Kate Addo, confirmed the incident, saying the accident happened at Konongo in the Ashanti Region today.
She explained that the dispatch rider was hit from behind by a speeding vehicle. She did not confirm if that resulted in instant death or not.
However, Ms. Addo confirmed that the Speaker of Parliament was not in the convoy when the accident happened.7
Also, Ms. Addo refused to identify the rider, but simply hinted that „He is one of the longest-serving riders with us.”
Madam Addo said the security team was on its way to Wa, the Upper West regional capital, to await the arrival of the Speaker, who has a programme.
