Bread Bakers In Kumasi announce 20% Price Hike

The Ashanti regional branch of Bread Bakers Association has announced that since August 1, 2021, all types of bread in the region will cost 20% more.

The bread bakers justify their price hike by complaining about the bakers high prices of ingredients like flour used for producing bread.

Announcing the 20% price increment at a news conference in Kumasi over the weekend, Regional Secretary for bakers’ Association, Isaac Amoah, outlines the nature of the increases, saying that for instance, a GHC 5 bread will cost GHC 6 now.

Earlier, plans had been proposed to increase the prices of bread but it was discarded.

But this time, the bakers lament that only a price hike can save their businesses.
