The Multimedia Goes To War Against Kennedy Agyapong

The Multimedia Group has filed a formal complaint to the Ghana Police Service (GPS) against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for threatening the life of one of its journalists, Erastus Asare Donkor.

In Multimedia’s letter, dated July 13, 2021, addressed to the Deputy Regional Commander, Ashanti Region, the media organisation requested police protection for their journalist, Erastus Asare Donkor.

It also called for a thorough investigation into the threats issued by the legislator.

The Multimedia Group may be taking a cue from the murder of undercover investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein Suale who was threatened in a similar manner by Kennedy Agyapong.

Suale was shot several by hired assassins at close range on his way home. He died on the spot.

On Friday, July 9, Mr. Agyapong was reported to have threatened to attack Mr Asare Donkor, for his exposure of brutal military shooting of unarmed protestors recently in Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

On his Net 2 TV channel, the foul-mouthed MP reportedly threatened that if he was the Ghanaian President, he would have ensured that Erastus Asare Donkor was “beaten mercilessly.”

Management of The Multimedia Group described the threats of the MP as, “life-threatening”, thus, should not be taken lightly.

The complaint was copied to 14 officials, including the Chief of Staff, Ministers of Interior and National Security, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Ashanti Regional Minister, the Inspector General of Police, the Director of Criminal Investigation Department.

Meanwhile, the Multimedia Group appears to have invoked a confrontation with the MP who recently revealed that journalists from the media organisation were on the payroll of the Jubilee House and that President Akufo Addo’s notorious cousin, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko was allegedly bankrolling those unnamed journalists.
