A traditional high priest for Teshie in the Ledzokuku district of the Greater Accra Region was wounded when unknown attackers opened fire and hurled stones at him and others while performing rituals as a prelude to the commencement of the Homowo festival.
The Wulomo was reportedly attacked at the Osabu Ayiku shrine on Sunday.
John Adjetey Kommey, Secretary to the Chief Priest explains that the incident happened at about 7:30 am when the Wulomo was completing the rituals.
“…All of a sudden we heard gunshots, the throwing of stones and bottles.”
“They invaded the place because the police had left. Then they attacked the Wulomo and all those who came to witness the rituals,” Mr. Kommey said.
Nobody knows the identities of the assailants.
In addition to the Wulomo, two others were also injured and have since been given Police medical forms to attend hospital.
