A warrant of arrest has been issued for the Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by the Aflao District Court, in the Volta Region.
Allegedly, Mr. Makafui Kofi Wanyah failed to incorporate his establishment into the Social Security Scheme in contravention of the law
He is therefore liable for a fine under Section 83 (1) (a) (g) of the National Pensions Act, 2008.
Even so, when he was summoned by the court to appear and answer to the charges on two occasions, he failed to appear. It is in consequence that the court issued the bench warrant for his arrest.
Mr. Makafui Wanyah owns a radio station and a number of gas filling stations. However, he does not pay social security for his workers because he has not even bothered to register them for social security.
He is alleged to have frustrated several attempts by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to register the companies.
