Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH) Azubila Salam Emmanuel has alerted that the growing crime rate and ritual murders in the country is a direct reflection of the hardship in the country.
According to Mr. Azubila in a statement copied to Whatsup News, the extreme hardship in the country currently is unbearable and people including children will do anything humanly possible to survive “and that poses a big threat to our country security. This increases the level of crime rate and definitely will overstretch the activities of the police and other security apparatus,” he said.
His statement is coming in the wake of the horrible news of two teenagers reportedly murdering a 10-year-old for ritual money in Kasoa.
“Undoubtedly, children and for that matter society learn from the actions of their leaders and political Leadership in government cannot be an exception. Children in this country are witness to people associated with this government murdering people with impunity just to maintain political power. So what our children are learning is that killing to maintain political power and killing to become a billionaire is not different,” the statement read.
“These are the negative precedence we are been talking about. The killing of the 10 years old boy in Kasoa by juveniles for ritual purpose and the killing of an Ambulances driver in the Eastern Region by children ranging between 18 to 24 years through robbery attack, is a reflection of how the killing of human beings is becoming a norm in the country under the supervision of this government.”
In the past couple of years, there have been consistent reports of missing persons across the country. Many of these persons often turn up dead with body parts missing. It is suspected that these are results of ritual killings for money.
Critics have heaped the blame on the Akufo Addo administration which has been criticised as the worst in terms of managing the economy in the Fourth Republic history of Ghana.
The government has piled on more debt than any other government in Ghana’s history, yet, critics point out that it is also the worst-performing government in terms of delivering social infrastructures that would have eased poverty in the country.
“As we speak, the President of the Republic Nana Addo has not condemned that dangerous act or punish those criminals whose actions led to the death of these innocent souls when indeed he had a brilliant opportunity to comment on the incidence in his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) for 2020 and the maiden SONA for his new term,” Azubila slammed the Ghanaian President.
Until the government subjects murderers in his government to severe punishment, people influenced by killing human beings to get what they want cannot stop. Government should also expedite action in reducing the economic hardship in the country,” he stated.
