The National Democratic Congress has asked the public to treat with contempt, a document circulating to the effect that its 2020 Flagbearer, John Mahama, has conceded defeat in the flawed election.
According to sources from within the party, the document circulating with the supposed listing of number of votes that Mr. Mahama got together with what Akufo-Addo supposedly got, is a fakery.
The document captures the signature of somebody said to be Deputy Chairperson at the Electoral Commission, Sereboe Quaicoe, listing number of votes and percentages polled by all candidates in the 2020 presidential election, effectively showing that former President Mahama lost the elections.
Meanwhile, the speculations may have arisen from a supposed letter by the NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia writing to the Electoral Commission asking for refund of the NDC’s filing fees, which is supposed to be returned to any party that is able to have MPs elected on its ticket.
However, that letter by Asedu Nketia, together with a fake one listing the supposed number of votes that all candidates got has been put into circulation on social media by sources believed to be from within the governing NPP to create the impression that Mr. John Mahama has conceded defeat, even though the former President is in court contesting the declaration of Akufo-Addo as President-elect.
