The Concerned Youth of Volta (CYV) a youth group in the Volta Region has endorsed the re-election of already serving Council of State Member, Mr Francis Albert Seth Nyonyo, for a second term.
In a statement, the group declares that there is no need for Mr. Nyonyo to face an Electoral College as a comp[etitor against eight (8) other contestants and asked that his competitors step down for him.
“There was the need for another re-election to enable him accomplish his dream,” part of a statement issued by the group and signed by its leader, King David Akpabli, said.
It said ‘Dumega Nyonyo Agboada’ has proven himself in the first four years that he was the Council of State representative for the Volta Region.
Mr. Nyonyo, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Fraga Oil is credited with lobbying for the Keta Harbour and the Ketu Petrol Chemical industries projects, which could create thousands of jobs for the teeming unemployed youth of the Region.
He is also credited with supporting various infrastructural projects in the region spanning education, health, and youth empowerment programs.
The group said that Nyonyo has continued to be a roots man since his election, keeping in touch with the people of the Region, even after touring Volta upon his first election, a feat that only he has done so far in the history of Council of State Reps from the Region.
Mr Nyonyo, a businessman and a philanthropist is facing competitions from eight other contestants namely, Dr Bernice Adiku Heloo, Osie Adza Tekpor VII, Mr Robert Castro Mediale, Mr Frederick Kwame Gbeku, Mr Charles Atsu-Koni, Mr Osei Christian Dziidzi, Mr Felix Lartey, and Mr Daniel Kwabla Dzakpasu.
A 36 member Electoral College composing of two nominees from each district assembly will vote to elect the new Council of State Member.
