A former National Security Advisor to former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Lt. Gen (Rtd), Joshua Hamidu has died.
The 85-year-old died at the 37 Military Hospital where he had been on admission receiving treatment for an unknown illness.
Family of the deceased have reportedly not decided on a date for his funeral because of the current ban imposed on social gathering by President Akufo-Addo due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before becoming National Security Advisor to Kufuor, Mr. Hamidus had served as Chief of Defense Staff under the Military Council (SMC) government. He has also been Chairman of the then Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) now the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) as well as served on the Bank of Ghana Board.
He was also a former High Commissioner to Nigeria.
Joshua Muhamadu Hamidu had been widely accused of being complicit in the dastardly murder of the late Yaa Naa of Dagbon, Yakubu Andani, in March 2002.
However, he was later cleared by the Wuaku Commission which probed the regicide.
