Parliamentary Sittings To Go Virtual From Next Week -Because Of COVID-19 fears

Parliament will from next week, hold virtual sittings with only one-third of its membership in the chamber.
This is according to Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Bagbin said the rest will follow and make contributions virtually.

“We are not going to allow this kind of sitting again. Members who follow the process from their offices will only come into the Chamber when it’s their turn to debate”, he said.
The move is to help reduce the risk of Coronavirus contraction among members of the House.

The Speaker also suggested that the Legislature may operate from the marquee that was used for President Akufo-Addo’s inauguration.
This would greatly limit contact among MPs.
Meanwhile, he announced that Parliament will go through a fumigation exercise during the weekend to sanitize the place.
