Akufo-Addo Politely Snubs Abronye’s Ministerial Ambitions

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwame Baffoe, has announced that President Akufo-Addo has turned down his request to be appointed to a portfolio in his government.

In an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, the loudmouthed man notoriously known as ‘Abronye DC’ revealed that he went to meet the President with his CV at the Jubilee House but the President told him to rather remain a party mule.

According to him, the President said he was impressed with his CV but that he would rather he continues in his role so that he can help ensure that he, Akufo-Addo, hands over to another NPP Administration.

Abronye is a notorious party loose cannon who has a reputation for insulting people and spewing wild allegations against people both within and outside of his party, the NPP.

Because of his behavior, the Bono Regional branch of the NPP has indicated they will not re-elect him into office.

President Akufo-Addo’s polite refusal to appoint him to any ministerial portfolio seems to imply a sentence to unemployment over the next four years.

Meanwhile, Abronye says he has taken the snub in good faith and advised other party members not to be discouraged if their quest for an appointment is turned down.

“I’ve seen that they have started promoting some people and lobbying for people but one thing that I will advise after the lengthy discussion I had with the President when I went to the Jubliee House and presented my CV to him is that, if at the end of the day the person you’re pushing does not get appointed don’t be discouraged because as the President has told me he wants me to stay from now to 2024 so that the party becomes strong, so if you’re ready that the NPP has to be strong then you will understand him and the project he has for the party,” he told Asempa FM in an interview,” he said.
