NPP Disrespected Me With ‘insulting’ Ghc50,000 Contract

Kwame Baffoe Agyei, alias Abronye DC the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Chairman for the Bono Region has lamented that the reason why he had gone on a self-imposed silence is because of greed within the ruling party.

Speaking on Adom FM, Abronye DC said the greedy ones in the party keep the lion’s share and hand out crumbs to workhorses like him.

He cites an example of a paltry contract given to him: “Somebody will call you for contract and when yo get there, the amount involved is a paltry fifty thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc50,000). What is fifty thousand Ghana cedis? So me too I will not speak for the party again, I am also going to fold my arms. One greedy person has taken over everything.

According to him, an Orwellian system that has developed in the ruling party is such that a few greedy people have hijacked most of the government contracts and other juicy sources of money, and are eating with their hands and feet, while others are starving.

Those starving, he said, include himself and that the greedy people within the party are passing some of the spoils of power to girlfriends, the party has also been insulting his dignity by giving him contracts only worth chicken change.

“They expect you to keep working but they will not give you some of the contracts. For some people, they expect that when you wake up in the morning, you go to them and salute them ‘good morning’, perambulating at the offices of Ministers so that they can give you a thousand cedis (Ghc1000) and then go behind you to tell Aklufo-Addo that they are looking after you, and I am not in for that,” he said.

Abronye DC does not name the greedy people he is talking about but says that they are Ministers in Akufo-Addo’s government.

According to him, those enjoying the largesse of power under Akufo-Addo have not sacrificed as much as people like himself who used his own money to fund his activities for the party, in a labor of love, when the party was in opposition.
