NDC Snubs NDP’s Invitation To War of Words

Communicators of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been directed to ignore yesterday’s press conference by the National Democratic Party (NDP) led by the widow of former President Rawlings, Nana Konadu Agyeman.

In a circular to foot soldiers, National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, said the press conference was a diversionary tactic aimed by the Akufo-Addo government which is believed to have sponsored the press conference, to divert attention from the Agyapa mineral royalties’ corruption scandal.

“All communicators and officials of the NDC across the 16 regions of Ghana, are hereby directed, not to comment on the press conference held this afternoon by the NDP, which is intended to divert our attention from the stinking Agyapa scandal, Martin Amidu’s resignation and matters arising from same,” the circular read.

“Under no circumstance, should any communicator or party official, comment on the content of the NDP’s presser,’ Sammy Gyamfi directed.

Rather, he said, “Let’s focus on propagating the superior policies and programs that John Mahama and the party have for Ghanaians. Also, let’s focus our energies on amplifying the stinking Agyapa scandal, Martin Amidu’s resignation and death threats on his life, and other corruption and nepotistic scandals being supervised by President Akufo Addo.”

The directive has since left the NDP press conference, a one-man rant by Alhaji Frimpong, the General Secretary of the NDP.

Konadu’s party had shocked many when in the aftermath of the sudden death of Rawlings, the party held a press conference to announce that late President Rawlings widow, Nana Konadu has hit the campaign trail to canvas for votes as the flagbearer of the NDP, despite being in mourning.

She has essentially rubbished advice from national elders, including former National Security chief, Brigadier Gen. Nunoo Mensah, to abandon the politics and grieve in honor of her late husband.
