Mahama Taunts Akufo-Addo Over ‘Azaah’ Sod Cutting Spree

The 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has mocked the recent sod-cutting spree by President Akufo-Addo as a sign of the death rattle of the Akufo-Addo government.

Addressing a campaign at Donkorkrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains North district as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Mr. Mahama said that the desperation that is driving the President to cut sods projects that have not been budgeted is likely to lead him to Donkorkrom to cut another sod immediately after Mahama has completed his campaign.

at “It shouldn’t come to you as a surprise at all if they come here to cut the sod for the construction of your road. The president hasn’t been able to do anything for you since you voted for him to be president, so what he is doing is to create the impression that he’s working but in reality, he knows he is doing that because of the elections.’’

President Akufo-Addo has suddenly been cutting sod all over the country for projects that are mostly gauged to start from 2021.

Political watchers have called it a cheap and tired trick for votes that actually insults the intelligence of voters.

Former President Mahama reiterated that the sod cutting craze of Akufo-Addo is a fake political card for votes.

Comparatively, he said the NDC has a better track record that makes the party trustable to deliver on developmental promises in the Afra Plains and other parts of the country.

“The NDC has a record of developing the Afram Plains. Since the era of President Rawlings, every development in this area from the provision of electricity, roads, telecommunication networks, education and health infrastructures were all built by the NDC so I do not think anybody will doubt us when we say we will build your road,” he stated.

The next NDC government, he said, will build a Referral Hospital in Afram Plains.

Mr. Mahama officially introduced the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Betty Krosby Mensah, to the people.
