The 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National; Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has described the Akufo-Addo government as “useless” stating that the President’s comparison of his government to that of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, is a sacrilege.
At a rally in Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Mahama who is on a four-day campaign tour dismissed what he said is the grandiloquent and narcissist propaganda of the Akufo-Addo government which keeps claiming it is the best government in the history of Ghana.
“All they do is propaganda. They keep saying ‘we have achieved every promise we made. We are the best government since independence, not even Nkrumah can match up to us’, this useless government and you compare yourself to Nkrumah?” President Mahama asked in Twi.
They come after John Mahama had first accused Akufo-Addo of messing up the country’s finances. Ghana’s debt to GDP ratio is racing to 77.6%, a ratio that is worst than the little over 60% that had earlier sent Ghana into the HIPC program.
The Akufo-Addo government is seen to have the record as the most corrupt in the history of the 4th Republic. It has also borrowed more than all previous governments combined. And yet the government has claimed it is the best in the history of Ghana.
