“Toothless Bulldog” Martin Amidu Barks At Mahama Again

Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Burns Kaizer Amidu, has gone off the handle again in another attack on former President Mahama’s for assuring Amidu that he has no intention of removing him from office should he win the 2020 presidential elections.

According to an unconvinced Amidu, Mahama is only using his [Amidu]’s name for political campaigning.

A shocking reaction by Amidu entails him writing another convoluted and verbose epistle in which he sulks about how he is unhappy about having his name dragged into Mr. Mahama’s campaign, and asking to be left out of the politics.

He also boasts about how nobody can remove him from office because he is protected by the Constitution; a claim that no may be debatable, given how the Akufo-Addo administration hounded out the former Electoral Commissioner, Charlotte Osei, who occupied another entrenched office.

“In any case the position of Special Prosecutor is not one of servitude but of service. It is, therefore, needless for anybody to assume airs about what she or he will do with the Office or Martin Amidu when she or he wins the elections,” Amidu wrote in his epistle.

“As the Special Prosecutor who personifies the Office of the Special Prosecutor, I find such statements patronizing, and needless within the objects, mandate, and functions granted to the Office under the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959),” Amidu boasts.

“Any Ghanaian worthy of putting himself forward as Presidential candidate for the upcoming elections should know the content of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959) by now. He must know by now that under section 4 of Act 959, except as otherwise provided for in the 1992 Constitution, the Office is not subject to the direction or control of a person or an authority in the performance of the functions of the Office even when the Office acts upon the authority of the Attorney- General to initiate and conduct the prosecution of corruption and corruption-related offenses.”

The statement as usual was long and a quintessential Martin Amidu-styled.

Mr. Amidu has generally been regarded as a failure and an overratted Special Prosecutor after he generally failed to prosecute anybody whom he had endlessly accused of corruption in the previous NDC administration before he was appointed Special Prosecutor.

Amidu has directly accused Mahama of corruption during the erstwhile Atta Mills/ Mahama administration and has generally been regarded as having a personal hatred for Mr. Mahama.

Meanwhile, the John Mahama had responded to a question by a concerned Ghanaian who had wanted to know if Amidu’s constant unprovoked attacks on him would inform his decision to sack him if he wins the 2020 election.

To this, the NDC Presidential candidate said there was no way he would do that because the office is premised on law.
