A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Suame Constituency has slammed the Majority Leader and the Member of Parliament for Suame in the Ashanti Region, Osie Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as incompetent, calling for his ouster from the seat.
The youth say the current MP who is also Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, has woefully failed to perform in all the more than 24 years that he had represented them in Parliament.
They pointed out evidence of the incompetence by referencing bad road infrastructure in the constituency, poor drainage system and poor health facilities in the constituency which is the hub of artisanal industry in Kumasi-the Ashanti Regional capital.
In a Press conference on Wednesday, 26 August 2020, the Public Relations Officer of the group, Kofi Agyei announced the resolve of young people in the constituency to vote out the “Methuselah” MP.
“The 24 years of incompetent leadership in the Suame constituency is enough. After all, the 24 years has not yielded any positive impact on the constituents. Only have we lived on dilapidated road infrastructure, poor drainage system, no hospital facility and no additional educational infrastructure,” the group PR stated.
“We with grief concern, therefore, have thoroughly done a search and have gotten someone with a high personality to contest in the name of Suame constituency as an independent candidate.”
The group claim they will be voting for the independent candidate George Prempeh in place of the embattled Kyei Mensah-Bonsu.
