MiDA to construct energy efficient testing facility for GSA

The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) says construction work on a Containment Building for a Testing Laboratory which will assess the performance of ductless Room Air conditioning (RAC) Systems will begin on June 1, 2020.

In a statement issued by the authority and copied to GhanaWeb said funds for the US$1.5million Air Conditioner Test Containment Building and the Testing Laboratory have been provided by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), an Agency of the United States Government, under the Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management Project of the Ghana Power Compact.

According to MiDA, the facility, to be constructed on the premises of the Ghana Standards Authority, will support government’s efforts towards implementing a national program that will enforce performance labeling of ductless RAC Systems.

“It will also ensure that appliances meet a minimum efficiency performance standard (MEPS) and contribute, to the efficient use of electricity,” the statement noted.
