Majority Leader calls for MPs’ ex-gratia to be reviewed

Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is calling for a review of ex-gratia payments to Members of Parliament.

The Suame MP is proposing a pensions scheme for MPs instead.

Many current and former MPs including Mr. Mensah Bonsu are demanding the payment of an estimated ₵29 million in ex-gratia arrears dating back to 2005.

The demand has sparked public outrage but the Majority Leader insists they are entitled to the money.

In a yet to be aired interview on PM Express on the JoyNews channel later tonight at 9pm.

Mr. Mensah Bonsu reveals how many of his colleague former MPs have become paupers and have resorted to begging for handouts from sitting MPs to survive.

The full interview airs tonight on PM Express on the JoyNews Channel from 9pm. It will also be live on the Joy News Facebook and Youtube platforms as well as on myjoyonoline.com.
