Runaway Abronye, Pops Up On Asempa FM

Kwame Baffoe, the New Patriotic Party regional Chairman for Bono who became a fugitive from the law after former President John Mahama filed a complaint against him with the Criminal Investigations Department of the Headquarters Police, suddenly emerged on Asempa FM today.

The man who is popularly called ‘Abronye DC’ used his brief appearance to boast that he has not been running from the law as has been widely reported and that he was preparing a belated response to the Police’ invitation in connection with the Mahama case.

“I’m not a coward. Not even a second shall pass my set time to go to the CID tomorrow morning. I’m more than ready. I’ve already written to them my response so it will be easier,” he boasted.

“Invitation by the Police is an honour because it’s not part of the criminal code of arresting. I’ve been honoured with such an invite and I must honour them by seeing them tomorrow,” he said via telephone supposedly from his base in Sunyani.”

Suspicion that Abronye had become a fugitive from the law was evoked when the man suddenly disappeared after former President Mahama lodged a complaint against him for claiming on television that the former President had hired assassins to kill some NPP leading functionaries, including himself.

According to Abronye, Mr. Mahama who is the NDC Flagbearer for 2020 was also responsible for the death of the late President Mills.

After the former President had lodged the complaint through his lawyer, Tony Lithur, Abronye had responded by writing to the CID to plead insanity and also called for the arrest of the former bodyguard of the late President Mills over those same allegations.

The CID had responded by inviting both the former President and Abronye to help with the investigation. But while the former President’s camp had indicated readiness to report to the CID, Abronye had suddenly vanished out of town.

His sudden disappearance led to speculation that he had run away from the law. However, he has suddenly appeared on Asempa FM claiming he is no coward but is preparing to respond to the Police invitation.
