MASLOC Justifies GHC 3million Cash Spraying On NPP Footsoldiers

Afia Adepa Akoto, one of the many Deputy CEO of the Microfinance Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has justified the decision of another MASLOC deputy CEO to pack as much as GHC 3 million in her car boot and distribute to party foot soldiers on tabletop in Yendi on Thursdays, May 21, 2020.

According to her, the crude way the public funds were distributed to supposed traders in Yendi, was to prevent “Ghost names”.

“To avoid ghost names we normally disburse group loans in person. It is One (1) thousand Ghana cedis per person for a group of 25. To minimize these things, just days ago we launched the Masloc Digital System… Madam Abibata Shanni Mahama is the DCEO in charge of the Northern Belt and Yendi falls under her. This information is to the naysayers who think everything should be politicized,” Afia Akoto explained in one of the most curious explanations for the clear lack of finesse in such cash distribution by a public institution tasked loaning funds to small businesses.

“To all who are concerned with the MASLOC deputy CEO’s works up north, please relax because it in her right to serve the people and to minimize ghost names. This was how things have been till we launched our digital system few days ago..,” she explained.

On Thursday, Whatsup News picked up reports on how Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakaria, one of the NPP Parliamentary candidates for Yendi and the Deputy MASLOC CEO was spotted at the Yendi Senior High School with wads of cash estimated at GHC 3 million meant for selected women delegates of the NPP who would be voting in the forthcoming parliamentary primaries of the constituency.

Pictures from the shocking scene showed several bundles of GHC 100 cedi notes were loaded into the car boot of the aspiring MP’s car, while some were laid out on top of a crude table as the MASLOC boss splashed the cash on the women groups convened at the venue.

The money distribution was done in total disregard to the social distancing decree ordered by President Akufo Addo against the spreading Covid-19 coronavirus.

Whatsup News has also picked up intelligence that this is not the only time MASLOC funds meant for small business have been blown on party vote-buying. NPP foot-soldiers in Regions such as the Eastern Region, Ashanti Region, etc., are active recipients of MASLOC funds to line their pockets.
