Cult-Like Oath Of Secrecy Sparks Civil War At GRIDCO -In Curious Re-enactment of “Culture Of Silence”

The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) is boiling over following anger among staff over management’s attempt to gag them with an order for them to sign a curious oath of secrecy.

The staff are peeved because the think it an unnecessary measure given the fact that their appointments letters already have confidentiality clauses, Whatsup News gathered.

Whatsup News has intercepted a copy of the oath of secrecy signed in an April 28, 2020 memo from the Director of Human Resources for GRIDCO.

The memo signed by one Rosina Amuah, warned that staff should complete the official oath-taking by today April 30, 2020.

Staff are supposed to sign the following: “I solemnly and sincerely swear that I will faithfully and honestly perform the duties that are assigned to me as a staff of Ghana GRID Limited (GRIDCO).”

It continues: “ I agree that all discussions, deliberations, records and information generated or maintained in connection with any work activity and which come to my knowledge by virtue of my work, will not be disclosed to any person during or after my service as an employee, without the due authorisation.”

GRIDCO’s pet project essentially seeks to bond its staff eternally as the oath includes paragraphs that threatens criminal charges on staff who reveal official secret even after they have left the company.

They are asked to sign an oath that says: “I agree that failure to comply with the Oath of Secrecy and Undertaking of Confidentiality could result in my dismissal from GRIDCO, the instituting of or criminal proceedings against me or a combination of any of them.”
