EXCLUSIVE: Tanzania giants Yanga set to sign Ghanaian striker Shafiu Mumuni

Young Africans ‘Yanga’ of Tanzania are set to sign powerful Ghana’s dangerous striker Shafiu Mumuni from the Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old, who is also been targeted by Romanian giants Cluij, has been penciled down by the Tanzanian side to augment their squad ahead of the start of the new season.

With the finances to pay even better than the Romanian side, Yanga have entered the race to sign the top scorer at the WAFU Championship to challenge their arch rivals Simba.

Mumuni is among the two dangerous strikers coach Luc Eymael has proposed to Yanga management along with Namibian striker Isaskar Gurirab.

A source from Yanga has confirmed to Ghanasoccernet.com that they are planning to sign Mumuni in the hope of improving their squad for next season.

The source who did not want his name to be revealed because he is not a spokesman for the club, said the two players were recommended by Head Coach, Luc Eymael.

“There are about five players recommended by the coach for us to sign. Among them is a Ghanaian named Mumuni and Namibian Gurirab,” the source revealed.

“We have have already started the process of registering them very quickly to avoid any surprises from other interested clubs.

“We know all these players have teams that want them, so we are speeding up this issue so we don’t get robbed.

“I believe we will be successful as they have also shown a willingness to come and play for Yanga.” said our correspondent.

Yanga sponsors GSM Group Company, are partnering with the club to provide the funds to make sure no player suggested by the coach is not captured.

Eymael refused to confirm his interest in the two strikers insiting he has presented to report to the management of the club to pursue some players he has identified.

“My role is to coach and I have sent my report to the leadership and the issue of the names of the new players is in my report. I leave that to the leaders for them to work on my recommendations,” said Eymael.
