In a rather terrifying accelerating rate of officially confirmed cases of the deadly Covid-19, Ghana’s now has 313 after recording 287 just a day earlier.
This means 26 news cases in just one day and approximately 100 cases in less than 72 hours. Out of this gloomy statistics, 6 of the infected victims have died from complications from the disease.
Greater Accra Region still tops the fasted contagion epicentre in Ghana with 274 cases, while the Ashanti Region comes in second with 25 cases.
The Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1), Upper East Region (1) and the Central Region (1) follows in the rate of infection chronologically.
Of this number, a total of 161 cases were reported from routine surveillance, 37 from enhanced surveillance activities and those from travellers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale are 115, as the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak in Ghana appears to be getting out of hand.
Meanwhile, the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah claims that a total number of 7,461 tests have been conducted out of the 15,384 persons identified through contact tracing.
“It is because we are aggressively going out there now in search of the virus, we will find these numbers. The more numbers we find the better we are for the health service to provide care for those who are sick. Please do not be alarmed,” Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said.
Globally, about 1.5 million have been infected while up to 87,000 have died from the deadly flu-like virus.
