Nine new coronavirus infections have been recorded in the country, stacking up the country’s case count to 214.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), six of the new infections were recorded in Accra, the national epicentre, while three were recorded in Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city.
Among the newly infected persons, according to the Health Service, is a 37 year-old woman with no travel history or contact with a confirmed case.
Another is one of the 1030 travellers under mandatory quarantine who had initially tested negative but has since tested positive on repeat testing.
The other four cases are infected persons with no symptoms at all who were detected in the course of enhanced surveillance that the government has been mounting.
For the four cases in the Ashanti Region, two are Ghanaians who travelled in from France while one is a Ghanaian with no travel history.
Five out of Ghana’s sixteen regions have reported infections. Greater Accra has recorded the most cases, 189 followed by Ashanti Region which now has 12 cases. Northern Region has 10 cases while Upper West and Eastern Regions have recorded one case each.
