Latest update from the Ministry of Health on the country’s Coronavirus cases show that there has been a further spike in number of infections by sixteen more detection.
Consequently, from 136 on Saturday, the total number of infections is 152.
Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, briefing journalists at the Ministry of Information today gave the breakdown as consisting of the detection of 63 infections from routine surveillance and 79 detections from among the 1030 travelers into the country who have been quarantined.
Ten (10) of the latest infections, he said are detections from the testing of some foreigners who had traveled in a group to Tamale. Media reports indicate that these foreigners are Guineans who traveled from Accra to the Northern regional capital.
There have also been reports that 1 infection has been detected in Wa, the Upper West regional capital.
The Health Minister said the number of deaths from Covid 19 remains at 5.
Government has created another quarantine center in Tamale where the 10 infected Guineans who traveled there have been kept.
Meanwhile, he said that testing on all the 1030 quarantined who traveled into the country have been concluded and that those who tested positive, which is the 79, have each been assigned a psychologist.
He said the Ministry has distributed Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to frontline medical workers all over the country and continues to do so, with some 30,000 PPEs that were received just a few days ago already in the supply pipeline.
The Health Minister said the President has also deployed Military logisticians and aircrafts, including drones, to distribute PPEs and blood samples for testing.
